Caicos Caves Project

In the Fall of 1999, a team of three underwater explorers began systematically and methodically, exploring previously unrecorded submarine caves within the Turks and Caicos Bank. With underwater exploration sites now established on six of the islands, with a multitude of working locations, there is much to being discovered.

We invite you to become a part of, and share with us these historical and scientific underwater discoveries, deep within the carbonate platform that forms the "Caicos Bank."

Goals

►To locate, explore, and document the underwater cave systems within the Turks and Caicos archipelago.

►To conduct a comprehensive study of the hydrology, geology and biology of the systems in order to understand and manage these valuable resources.

►To investigate the underwater caves for signs of early human activity in order to examine and protect this aspect of Turks and Caicos heritage.
